slne art festival logoGet ready to embrace the creative souls that inhabit Second Life!  On Sunday, September 21, Second Life New England (SLNE) will be given over to art, as the New England Art Festival opens with a gala celebration in Nantucket Town Square. Do not miss the exciting creations and the chance to meet some of Second Life's finest artists on the picturesque streets and parks of Mystic and Nantucket. During this premiere and the juried art festival, fifteen fine artists will exhibit paintings, photography and sculpted works. The festival continues through to Sunday, October 5.

The formal opening gala in Nantucket Town Square, at 2:00 PM SLT, will feature a sample work from each of the artists in the festival. We will dance the afternoon away to the cool jazz and blues music of Blue4u Nowicka!

Included artists are: Fuschia Nightfire, Lilith Vanalten, Finny Yates, Weard Welty, Konrad Jansma, Caitlin Tobias, Gracie Kendal, Pumpkin Tripsa, Feathers Boa, Thomas Gruntled, Jofus Wrigglesworth, Zephyru Zapedz, Webster Payne, Charles Wildbank, and Krissy Sinclair.

Another special treat taking place during the festival will be the Formal Opening of The Earl Cunningham Exhibit at 4:00 PM SLT on Monday, September 29 at Folk Art New England. The work of Earl Cunningham, one of the premier folk artists of the 20th Century, will be on view in Second Life here exclusively until the end of October. This exhibition is organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and will be shown in real life at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY from September 26 through December 31.

The closing event will take place on Sunday, October 5 in Nantucket Town Square, ending the festival with a bang (hint... hint...). The feisty and very talented ArorA Chadborne is the featured performer.

Be sure to watch the SLNE Event Listings and your in-world bulletins throughout the New England Art Festival for times, locations and more opportunities to meet with the artists and learn more about their philosophies and work.
