Chris Hill, Ethos 748
"Questions are the basis of my art. I like to think of my work as problems solved or unsolved. Each work is a challenge from its conception through execution and conclusion. From there it becomes the starting point for the next work.  As an artist I am not singular in my vision. I must continue to explore, reinvest and reinvent. "   -Chris Hill
In his new series Luminous, Chris Hill is works with light and shadow. He sheds some light on the mixed media series  done in Encaustic and mixed-media on acrylic or wood panels, glass, plexiglass, or canvas.
"The Luminous series is where I attempt to drive a traditional style (representational) to its essence. Diffused light and shadow are the key interests in my execution. The type of light is the paramount element, whereas form falls to more of a secondary thought in the imagery. One of the most satisfying as aspects of this series is that these works evoke memories or emotions more often than the recall of a specific location."

His art is collected on the private and corporate level. One of his earliest and largest commissions was for Motorola, North America, where he was given a tour of the campus and asked to create a large number of mixed-media works. Other notable corporations have included Hill’s work in their portfolios, including Hyatt Regency, Marriott, Comerica and First Union. His abstract and Luminous works are shown in galleries across the United States.
Of his oher works, Hill says, "My abstract works are both emotional and cerebral studies where I attempt to arrange order from chaos. Each work starts as a free form study where I allow the painting to flow as if it has its own will or moment in time…. I like to think of this as a dance of balance between the elements of pigments, textures, composition and aesthetics."
Born and raised in Boca Raton, Fla., Hill attended Jacksonville State University where he pursued his education in the fine arts.  Soon after, he entered the fine art field as a professional artist. He still resides in South Florida with his wife, Rosa, and children Gabriel and Mikaela, where he maintains an active studio.
